a collection of teen poetry

as you know if you have been keeping up with my blog, i am an absolute romantic. and by being a romantic, i regularly note down my thoughts in an overpriced notebooks, which sometimes take the form of poems. so i decided to make a post with some of my favourites, enjoy:

empty

when you look at yourself in the mirror, what do you see?
a 16 year old could be model?
a 13 year old socialite?
a 14 year old fuckboy?
whatever you like to think of yourself as
peel back the layers
peel back the fake smile
and the wilting eyes
peel back the A+ grades
and the goodlooking genes
peel away your thoughts
the capsule of memories

without it all,
what are you?
are you the ghost of the stories you tell
and the thoughts you contain?
are you a mould of society?
what is the raw you? the real you?
are you a person
or are you superficial bullshit

gone

to keep one's piece of mind
at bay
a relatively hard task
i might say

all prancing round
in our own world, confused
pretending at least
not to be confused

to keep one's head
screwed on
while floating in a storm
gone.

routine

people are boring
spending 12 hours a day with the same group of people is boring
and doing the exact same thing
i want something exciting to happen
a love or a spark of passion
a kiss
new friends
i wish i could do something else,
i could be an actor or model
i wish i could just leave.

routine.
even the word sounds dull.
our friends,
first, they’re new and exciting
but all novelty fades
and spending time takes its toll
and falls into
routine.
the spark lost
just endless circles of
meaningless checkups
and walking on eggshells

routine.
a way
there must be a way out
there is no depth
all surface
no meaning

cycle

tears drop
eyes close
mind aches
heart breaks

clouded vision
hot-headed passion
raging fire
broken hue

jealous touch
cold to the core
green envy
pure self

red hearts
love clouds
cupids bow
fell out.

longing

It wasn't a person
or a thing
it was a feeling,
a longing for love

love like the ones in the books
Romeo and Juliet
where a simple kiss
could make you fall to your knees

like the ones you hear if
started as a crush
now shes all he thinks about
endless summers

like the ones in films
a second apart was too long
french kissing in the street
a milkshake for two

like the ones you see
holding hands
quick pecks here and there
their eyes meeting

love like your parents
although they don't always show it
its always there
everlasting

love like in your dreams
tall dark and handsome
when he says your name
theres no uncertaincy

this is the love you long
so tender and sweet
yet so passionate and strong
the small things
the secret kisses
the dancing in the dark
the 'i love you'
the moment where you both realise
this is it

this is what love feels like

authors note; thank u for reading, i love u
